I found some picnic photos on Library of Congress’ site.

Frost, A. B. , Artist. Skating Picnic. , None. [Between 1870 and 1928] Photograph. https://www.loc.gov/item/2010715907/.

I had never heard of a skating picnic. Seems cold, but fancy.

Sepia Saturday: School

A new month means a new topic for Sepia Saturday. In August we’ll share photos from schools. Today I’m sharing photos from the Library of Congress of students in classrooms.

I really like these sleeves the girls and teachers wear in the two photos above.

Old Cars

This month we’ll be sharing photos of old cars. I looked for some of the oldest.

Daimler-Benz Aktiengesellschaft. Das erste praktisch brauchbare automobil der welt, das Benz-Dreirad von

Invented by Karl Benz, above is a photo of what’s arguably the first automobile. The argument is due to Daimler submitting his patent on the same day. Also, there was a steam powered vehicle that some considered the first car. Steam was just too inefficient. Here’s a good article about this historical controversy.

Merry Christmas!

This year I sought out photos of mail carriers, donors, etc. who are depended on to bring our gifts and mail.
